El lazo entre las familias y el Apoyo para el Comportamiento Positivo en la Escuela (SWPBS) es importante. Cuando las familias están involucradas en las actividades educacionales de manera significativa, sus hijos se desempeñan mejor en sus escuelas. Las familias juegan un papel importante en la educación y el desarrollo social de sus hijos. La presencia de los padres en las escuelas no solamente proporciona apoyo académico adicional sino que también crea conexiones comunitarias y culturales. En muchas escuelas, la participación de las familias en el proceso de apoyo para el comportamiento positivo en la escuela está creciendo. Los miembros de familia son parte de los equipos de planificación estatal, distrital y escolar y participan en actividades de la escuela en diferentes maneras. El involucramiento familiar ayuda a proporcionar consistencia entre la casa y la escuela, la clave del éxito para todos los estudiantes. Los miembros de la familia participan en el proceso de valoraciones y resolución de problemas para crear esquemas de apoyo para el comportamiento positivo individualizado cuando son necesarios para los estudiantes.

Este folleto estudia los componentes básicos de cualquier proceso de MTSS e incluye preguntas que usted quizás quiera hacer a la escuela de su hijo(a) para aprender más acerca del proceso de MTSS. Family Engagement: A Critical Component to Building an Empowering Culture in the Kansas Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS)

Family engagement is a key aspect of Kansas MTSS. For this reason, schools must make a concerted effort to involve families as early as possible. The PTA National Standards for Family School Partnerships focus on what families, schools, and communities can do together to support positive student outcomes. Each of the six standards includes quality indicators for successful partnerships. The standards are available on the National PTA website, www.pta.org.
