Una Guía del Apoyo para el Comportamiento Positivo en la Escuela (SWPBS) para la Familia

El lazo entre las familias y el Apoyo para el Comportamiento Positivo en la Escuela (SWPBS) es importante. Cuando las familias están involucradas en las actividades educacionales de manera significativa, sus hijos se desempeñan mejor en sus escuelas. Las familias juegan un papel importante en la educación y el desarrollo social de sus hijos. La presencia de los padres en las escuelas no solamente proporciona apoyo académico adicional sino que también crea conexiones comunitarias y culturales. En muchas escuelas, la participación de las familias en el proceso de apoyo para el comportamiento positivo en la escuela está creciendo. Los miembros de familia son parte de los equipos de planificación estatal, distrital y escolar y participan en actividades de la escuela en diferentes maneras. El involucramiento familiar ayuda a proporcionar consistencia entre la casa y la escuela, la clave del éxito para todos los estudiantes. Los miembros de la familia participan en el proceso de valoraciones y resolución de problemas para crear esquemas de apoyo para el comportamiento positivo individualizado cuando son necesarios para los estudiantes.

Family Engagement: A Critical Component to Building an Empowering Culture in the Kansas Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS)

Family engagement is a key aspect of Kansas MTSS. For this reason, schools must make a concerted effort to involve families as early as possible. The PTA National Standards for Family School Partnerships focus on what families, schools, and communities can do together to support positive student outcomes. Each of the six standards includes quality indicators for successful partnerships. The standards are available on the National PTA website, www.pta.org.

Ruth Clark Elementary School-Mid Year Report, 2010-2011

The Ruth Clark SuperHero program is designed to encourage students to read and to encourage parents to take an active part in their child’s reading practice. At the beginning of the year students were given a STAR reading test to determine the reading level and zone of proximal development (ZPD). This data then determined the number of Accelerated Reading points each child should earn during the school year.

Family Professional Partnerships (Online Module)

CONNECT: The Center to Mobilize Early Childhood Knowledge recently released CONNECT Module 4: Family-Professional Partnerships, which focuses on effective practices for developing trusting family-professional partnerships in early care and education programs (including home visiting, early intervention and other 0-3 settings). CONNECT Modules are free and use an evidence-based approach to professional development. They include video clips, activities, and handouts that are designed to be embedded into existing curricula, coursework and other professional development opportunities.

Ruth Clark Elementary, Family and Parent Partnership Project Report (FPPPs)

The Kansas Parent Information Resource Center (KPIRC) annually supports five Family and Parent Partnership Projects (FPPP’s) in public schools across Kansas. These schools are asked to plan, strategize, implement and evaluate family engagement efforts in their school. Each school submits an annual proposal to KPIRC with a specific plan for family engagement planning and strategies for the school year. This is the Family and Parent Partnership Project midyear report from Ruth Clark Elementary, Wichita, KS, 2009.
